The magnificent lake of Ullswater is less than 2 miles to the north, providing a fantastic destination for a lakeside picnic, boat hire or for taking a cruise on a steamer. Attractions close to Ullswater include the Aira Force Waterfall (5 miles), Place Fell (1.5 miles) and Dunmallard Hill (10 miles). Heading to the eastern edge of the Lake District you can visit Dalemain Mansion (11 miles) and Lowther Castle (15 miles). This pretty shepherd s hut has an open plan layout.
