From here, you can take the miniature railway from Ravenglass, known locally as the La'al Ratty, and travel 7 miles to the village of Boot, near the The Wrynose Pass. Barrow, Whitehaven and Workington are all within a 40-minute drive, boasting shops, restaurants, dock museums and attractions. Haverigg and its beach is one mile away, with various activities such as water skiing and banana boating, and you can stop off for refreshments and light bites at the ski bar or the locally appraised Herdwicks restaurant/cafe. Also within Haverigg, located by the beach is a park, tennis court, cafe and swimming pool. Further afield, you can discover mountain biking at Grizedale, boat trips of lake Windermere and even climb Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. Millom lies on the southern edges of the Lake District National Park near the River Duddon. Millom Museum offers an insight to its past, as do the remains of Millom Castle.
