A beautiful stone roofed, eco hideaway in the heart of the hills. Nestled on the slopes of the Black Mountains in the midst of the Brecon Beacons National Park, enjoy the views and night skies from the terrace, or stride out for endless trails through bluebell woods and ancient meadows. Crickhowell is just five minutes drive away with local traders, a handy mountaineering shop, pubs and plenty of coffee shops. Abergavenny, of Food Festival fame is ten minutes in the other direction, a thriving market town forming the heart of Wales foodie revolution. Cathedral towns of Brecon and Hereford are also within easy reach, as well as Wales Industrial Heritage sites in Blaenavon. Nearby attractions include beautiful walks directly in to the Black Mountains and Sugar Loaf Mountain, cycle hire available with National cycle routes and mountain biking centres throughout the area. Pony trekking throughout the nearby Llanthony Valley, fishing on the River Usk, canoeing on the River Wye and high wire and zip wire adventures at Llangorse Lake. Leisure facilities: log fired sauna. The accommodation offers ONE bedroom: king size with en suite bath and WC. Shower room: with shower and WC. Sitting room: with woodburner (first basket of logs included), TV, DVD and 2 day beds (therefore doubling as bedroom 2 ). (The cottage can stretch to squeezing in up to 4 small children). Kitchen: with wood fired range (exact baking can be tricky if you are new to this), gas hob, fridge and freezer. Washing machine available in the small utility area off of the lounge. Outside: terrace area with garden furniture and BBQ. Amenities: off road parking for two cars. Bed linen, towels, electricity, central heating and Wi Fi included. A selection of books and board games available. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome. Additional info: steep driveway. Please note: the garden windmill supply s the electricity, the natural spring supplies the water and woodburner supplies the heating. Children need to be supervised due to steep drops in the garden. The central heating, satellite Wi Fi, TV & DVD, are all fed from off grid sources. Satellite Wi Fi on a limited data bundle Download speeds are slow and only suitable for simple browsing and checking emails. Please bring devices pre loaded with what you want to watch or listen to Need to know: SLEEPS 2 6: 1 main bedroom with king size bed, adjoining bath, shower, basin and loo. A further twin bedroom which doubles as the sitting room, with twin truckle day beds (the cottage can stretch to squeezing in up to 4 small children). Pretty bed linen and soft towels all provided. KEEPING CLEAN : Two en suite bathrooms, one with a shower, basin and loo and the master bedroom with a bath, shower, basin and loo. There is a washing machine available too. EATING: Lovely handmade wooden kitchen with a gas hob, log fired range stove (exact baking may be tricky if you are new to this), fridge, freezer, dining table with a view. RELAXING: The kitchen is the heart of the home, with a sofa to pull up by the fire. The sitting room, with log burner, doubles as the twin bedroom, perfect for spreading out in if it s just two of you staying, a little snug when it s four. TV/DVD and WiFi available. OUTSIDE : Secluded terrace and garden with exceptional views of the Black Mountains. Private woodland to explore and handy dry storage for bikes. The property caretakers also live in the grounds, but privacy is assured for guests at all times. SAUNA: There is a wood fired sauna available to use during your stay, it is shared usage with the lovely Hillside Barn which is lower down the same hillside, albeit out of sight and mind once you arrive at the cottage. Hamman towels included and a bracing shower to cool down after the sauna. GO GREEN : Ingenuious as an eco retreat is, excessive water usage does have to considered, so please ensure you re thoughtful about turning off taps during your stay. CHILDREN : Will love it here! Cot and highchair available on request. Supervision is needed in the garden due to terraces and steep drops. PETS : Two well behaved dogs are really welcome. PARKING: Access is via a steep, concreted track, which is best tackled in first gear to the top. Parking for two cars only.
