Wigtown 4.7 miles. This charming detached cottage is accessed up a private driveway in a quiet, tranquil setting. Smithy Cottage is surrounded by countryside and woodland walking trails on the Machars Peninsula, close to Scotland's book town, Wigtown, and offers fantastic accommodation for a small family or group wanting to explore both the coast and countryside of this region of Scotland. Enter the property to find a cosy sitting room with a choice of two sofas to relax onto in front of the woodburning stove while enjoying watching the Freesat TV or a favourite film on the Blu-ray player. The kitchen/diner is decorated in neutral hues, offering plenty of space to prepare meals and is equipped with all the appliances you need to create lovely home-cooked meals that can be enjoyed together at the dining table. The conservatory offers and additional seating area, where you can curl up with a good book or just enjoy your tranquil setting. There is a ground-floor king-size bedroom overlooking the front of the property, along with a shower room with walk-in large shower. Head upstairs to find a further two bedrooms, both under the eaves, so with restricted head height in places and both with single beds, one of which has an additional pull out bed if required. Explore the Machars Peninsula, which offers a coastline of 40 miles, ranging from mud flats to beaches and cliffs, while the town of Newton Stewart, better known as the gateway to the Galloway Hills due to its position on the fringes of the Galloway Forest Park, offers a museum, riverside walks along the Cree, a golf course and scenic woodland and nature reserves to explore.
