To the west of the beach is the Kilkeel Cliff Walk, which takes visitors past the Richard Harris memorial and offers some excellent views of the coastline. Kilkeel is also home to Kilkeel golf clib for those golf enthusiasts. Move inland and explore the Silent Valley Reservoir & Mountain Park for some wonderful, scenic walks, or venture to Mourne Mountains for some adventurous hikes. Enjoy a day out in Newcastle, home to a lovely beach and the Royal County Down Golf Club, ideal for any keen golfers. From here, you can follow the Shimna River inland towards the Tollymore Forest Park to find a plethora of walking. The nearby bustling city of Newry offers a great nightlife and plenty of shops and bars. For a great day out take the ferry from Strangford to Portaferry which is around 50 minutes away but beautiful scenery and well worth a visit.
