The enclosed garden surrounds the cottage and includes a bird table on which you can watch the antics of the many birds that call by. There is also the chance of sighting of the local fox and deer.
There is much to do and explore through out the area with it’s strong connections to Robert Bruce and also Scotland’s famous baird, Rabbie Burns. The great outdoors can be enjoyed on the sandy beaches of the Solway Firth and woodlands at Mabie Forest Farm, all within a 30 minute drive, there's plenty to tire the family out, promising a relaxing evening for adults! The area also offers superb opportunities for outdoor activities both along the Solway coast and also inland where there is a great variety of river walks through to the hilltops giving magnificent panoramas to enjoy. There are numerous golf courses with great variety ranging from sea shore courses at Powfoot and Southerness which contrast with the sheltered Hoddam Castle riverside course. The choice of other outdoor activities is almost endless and includes fishing, horse riding, water sports and mountain biking all of which are within easy reach.
Annan has good shopping facilities and also has a swimming pool and also close by is Gretna Green, famous for weddings over the Anvil. Gretna also has a retail outlet village for shopping.
