Set amongst the rolling hills and forests of rural Powys, a few miles from the quaint town of Llanfair Caereinion, is this charming and quirky detached wooden bungalow, Bwthyn Cerridwen (Cerridwen’s Cabin) Sleeping up to six guests and three furry friends, Bwthyn Cerridwen is a tranquil private retreat for humans and wildlife alike. It is decorated throughout with colourful touches, vintage furnishings, original artworks and natural materials as well as a range of eco-products such as luxurious hypoallergenic bedding made from recycled plastic bottles to compostable kitchen sponges, It also has solar panels, an air source heat pump and a whole-house water purification system to help you holiday in a sustainable way. The cabin has easy access to Snowdonia to the north east around 60 miles away, the beautiful Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east, the bustling town of Llandrindod Wells and into the Brecon Beacons to the south and to the west, the stunning Ceredigion coastline. You can be on the beach at Borth or Ynyslas, shopping in the vibrant university town of Aberystwyth with its plentiful bars and restaurants, in about an hour, The Michelin star restaurant, Ynyshir, in Eglwys Fach, near Machynlleth is on the way to the coast and offers an incredible menu of locally sourced produce, Aberdyfi, Barmouth and Fairbourne are also accessible. More locally, the historic and charming town of Welshpool, the gateway to mid-Wales, is a 20-25 minute drive away, with three supermarkets and a host of independent shops and eateries. After travelling deep into the lovely rural landscapes of Powys, you will be pleased to find a carport on the large driveway accommodating three vehicles and storage for 6 bicycles, along with a dog care cupboard, The driveway area is naturally landscaped with native planting and the remainder of the large private plot is a haven for wildlife of all kinds including birds, wild flower and insect species. Elevated to overlook the wild natural garden, the front deck with hot tub, lounge and dining furniture, has amazing views across an idyllic countryside vista towards the Berwyn Mountains by day. There is very little light pollution here so you have every chance of seeing shooting stars if you stay up late enough on a clear night. Make your way up the 4 steps onto the decking and unload your things in the storm porch before entering the kitchen that is very well-equipped for keen cooks and sports soft green finishes; the chef of the family will enjoy fixing up meals on the superb range cooker and you can leave the washing up to the integrated dishwasher. When dinner is ready, make your way into the dining room and sit around the bespoke, hexagonal table and catch up with your loved ones about your countryside ramblings, after dinner, progress into the living room, which has comfy seating for six adults, a woodburning stove, a wall-mounted TV with Sky TV, a DVD player and upcycled retro furniture throughout. When night falls, the three bedrooms should provide you with a restful nights’ sleep, The king size master bedroom is located in the annexe at the side of the property and has its own entrance. This bedroom does not have an adjoining door to the main cabin and is accessed under a covered veranda from the back door in the dining room, The bed is zip/linked to suit your sleeping arrangements as a king size or twin singles. The room has a kettle with tea/ coffee making facilities, a TV for watching the selection of DVDs provided and an unusual en-suite shower room with a large rainfall shower, Two colourful cosy doubles can be found in the main part of the cabin, one is a snug room containing bursts of red throughout, while the other features deep purple finishes, Both rooms contain plenty of storage for your belongings and all bedrooms are provided with hairdryers and USB phone charging sockets, The shower room features some beautiful glass tiles while also providing you with a second walk-in rainfall shower. Behind the property is a great entertaining space, a chill-out room with it’s very own cocktail bar, plenty of books to read during your stay, a selection of board games, jigsaws, a record player and bluetooth speaker, Get comfortable on the bean bags, listen to some music or read a book and relax. The large front deck is a fabulous spot to socialise with a cocktail or a cold beer, watching the sun go down (or come up with an early morning coffee!) You can stretch out with some yoga on the 6 yoga mats provided. Or cosy up around the fire pit / BBQ and wrap up in blankets on colder autumn or winter evenings. And of course soothe tired muscles with a soak in the fabulous hot tub which comfortably seats 6 adults, Enjoy alfresco dining around a table, whatever the weather, on the covered back deck, or settle under the large parasol in the further additional outdoor seating area if you are seeking some shade. Travel the short drive to Llanfair Caereinion to grab your essentials, which has a post office, Spar and a Londis for your essentials, before visiting one of the three traditional pubs in the town. Deri Woods provides a lovely spot for a walk, where dogs can roam freely off the lead, Give your legs a rest and take the delightful Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway where you will travel through the beautiful Banwy valley with glorious views at every turn on your journey. Arriving in Welshpool, you can eat, shop and spot the wildlife in Severn Farm Pond Nature Reserve, tour the glorious medieval Powis Castle & Gardens, or embark on a hike along Glyndwr's Way. Art enthusiasts will take pleasure in viewing the pieces at the Oriel Davies Gallery in Newtown, or visit the fascinating Newtown Textile Museum, adventure seekers will enjoy the fastest zip world line in the world at the slate caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog, or the off-road peace for walkers and cyclists at Rainbow Trails in nearby Dyfnant Forest.
