This charming, detached cottage, originally the old telephone exchange, has been transformed into a cosy and welcoming retreat. Situated in a truly magical location, in its own private bay only 20 yards from the sea, Portamaggie Cottage boasts sea views from most of the accommodation. Accessed via a steep rough track, the property is surrounded by cliffs and located at the base of Killantringam Lighthouse, this is a location that has to be experienced. The icing on the cake has to be the private hot tub that takes advantage of the views out to sea. A walker’s paradise, the cottage is situated on the Southern Upland Way, and offers clifftop and moorland walks direct from the door. The lovely sandy beach at Knock Bay is only a 5-minute walk from the cottage and is very popular for sea fishing. Wildlife is abundant and the area has many marine visitors such as porpoise, dolphin and minke whale. The area is also popular with bird watchers, with many species to spot. There are many coastal villages to explore in the area, with the pretty harbour village of Portpatrick located only 3 miles away with restaurants, shops and a golf course. The town of Stranraer is approximately 8 miles and offers a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and Port Patrick is only 3 miles away.
