Visit the market town of Richmond or the the pretty town of Barnard Castle with its castle ruins and riverside walks. Bowes Museum is worth a visit too. The streets are lined with a wide array of independent shops, galleries and tea shops, and a good selection of pubs and restaurants can be found here too.
