Situated in open farmland and within a short stroll of the sea, Fairfield is a bright, modern, detached single-storey cottage. It is set in its own generous garden and enjoys lovely views from all aspects. The kitchen/dining room runs the length of the cottage, with a large dining table at one end complimented by a welcoming multi-fuel burner, and the well-equipped modern kitchen at the other, divided by a breakfast bar. There is a separate living room which is very spacious and beautifully presented, with colour co-ordinated soft furnishings. Large windows look out across open farmland to the sea beyond. The two double bedrooms are both generously proportioned and attractively decorated. With a family sized bathroom as well as an en-suite, Fairfield is ideal for couples and families alike. Fairfield is situated in a quiet no through lane that leads directly down to the shoreline in the hamlet of Ackergill, and there are wonderful coastal walks direct from the property. A particular favourite is the walk along the shoreline to the ruins of Sinclair Castle at Girnigoe, a 14th-century castle perched on the edge of the sea. There have been numerous sightings of Orca whales, as well as seals, porpoises and a myriad of seabirds. The nearby town of Wick, just 1 mile away, has an excellent selection of shops and amenities. The Wick Heritage Centre is well worth a visit and the Pulteney Distillery is famous for its single malt. Visitors are welcome to a tour, including a tasty dram or two! The coastline up here is simply stunning, with miles of sandy beaches interspersed with rocky coves. For outdoor enthusiasts there is plenty to do, including golf, fishing, kayaking, sailing and horse riding all available in the area. A trip to the Castle of Mey, Dunnet Head and a day trip to Orkney are all within easy driving distance. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile. Free WiFi
