Welcome to Tudor House, situated on the Halswell Park Estate, on the Quantock Hills. Here hundreds of years of history combine with sheer luxury to give you the most amazing countryside stay you could hope for. Set within the grounds of the beautiful Halswell Park with distant views towards the Bristol Channel and Wales, Halswell House (Grade I Listed) is quoted as being ’The most important house of its date in the county’, by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner. The Manor was first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, leaving you in no doubt of the historical heritage this park enjoys. Since 2014, Halswell House and the wider estate parkland have been undergoing full restoration. The Tudor House represents the completion of the first stage of this exceptional project. Found in the West Wing of the medieval Manor House, it is a simply stunning home that has been renovated in 2021 to an exceptional standard with each room being beautifully refurbished to a high standard, yet still giving you the modern touches. Drive through the gates into Halswell Park, where the sweeping drive leads you around to the 1689 mansion house Inside, the large door opens into the central dining hall, with its solid oak panelling on the wall and flagstone flooring, which features throughout the downstairs. Of particular note is that each room has hand crafted solid oak woodwork throughout, including doors as well as the exquisite stone mullion windows. To the left of the dining room is the kitchen, modelled on an 18th-century dairy, it has combined modern day living with the architectural elements of its age. Also, downstairs is the wonderful living room with its large fireplace and wood burner, as well as comfortable seating area. Head up the solid oak staircase, panelled in oak and featuring stunning lighting fixtures to the bedrooms, all of which have Smart TVs, USB ports and luxury furnishings. The opulent master bedroom features a super king-sized bed and large en-suite shower room with views over the Elizabethan garden. Along the landing to bedroom two, another large king-sized bedroom and a marble en-suite bathroom with bath and drencher shower above. The south bedroom can be found at the end of the landing with another super king-sized bed with garden views and stunning marble en-suite shower room with power drencher shower. The grounds of Halswell Park, including the famous Georgian Mill Wood pleasure gardens and the Temple of Harmony (a short walk away), are yours to enjoy and explore at your leisure, and the wonderful owners would be delighted to show you the interior of Halswell Mansion House should you wish when they are visiting Halswell. Many different walking trails lead from the park into nearby woodland and the wider Quantock Hills, the Somerset Levels, Blackdown Hills and Exmoor are all within reach. The towns of North Petherton, Taunton and Bridgwater are easily reachable offering a wide variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment. The beaches of Brean, Burnham-on-Sea and the harbour town of Watchet can be reached in under half an hour’s drive. Head to Minehead and jump on the wonderful Great West Somerset Railway and ride on one of the fabulous steam trains that run from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. Please note, there occasionally may be a guided tour on a Thursday which would take in the Elizabethan Garden, dates are announced on the Halswell Park website and the garden part of the tour will be short. Your stay at this property gives a unique opportunity to witness an historic house and estate being brought back to its former glory.
