Please note: this characterful property has 2 steps up into the first floor bathroom.. Toll Bar Cottage was originally built to collect money from passing travellers going along the road. It’s a striking stone-built cottage, in an enviable position. This historical building is in an ideal location for a coastal break. Boasting wonderful views, you are located on the Cleveland Way which is a clifftop trail connecting you to Staithes, Runswick Bay & Saltburn to the north and Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough to the south. All of which are ideal for days out and have their own character and charm. This is an incredibly beautiful and diverse area, inland you have the North York Moors National Park, with forests, moorland and hilltops offering fabulous panoramas. With private parking on your own driveway as well as an enclosed garden where you can enjoy the scenic surrounding countryside. It’s possible to arrange hire of your very own hot tub through a local company which can be ready for your arrival (£200pw, £150 per short break, by direct prior arrangement with the owner). Inside the property is set out over two floors. On the ground floor you have the kitchen with a breakfast bar and a separate utility room, leading through into the dining room and the living area. The property benefits from a ground floor double bedroom with an en-suite shower. Then upstairs you have three bedrooms, a double, a twin plus a bunk bedroom. The property is completed with the main bathroom. The location is fabulous. Sandsend is a gorgeous little coastal village, at low tide you have a vast expanse of soft sand stretching for miles. At high tide the dramatic waves often crash right over the sea walls, which is a thrilling sight to behold. In the village there are some wonderful cafés, a small local shop, a friendly local pub as well as a couple of popular seafood restaurants and a surf school. Hot tubs can be hired by guests. Sandsend is very popular with fisherman, surfers, walkers as well as golfers who visit the golf club perched up on the cliff top opposite Toll Bar Cottage. The North York Moors Railway runs from Whitby to Pickering and stops at some beautiful villages whilst journeying through the vast expanse of the scenic moorland. For family days out there’s lots to do nearby, from Scarborough’s waterpark, Sea Life centre, open air theatre or Oriental gardens with paddle boats. Flamingoland theme park and zoo, Dalby Forest with tree top zip wire trails, or even a traditional day out at the beach perhaps including a donkey ride, visit to the arcades or joining the local surf school. Your well-behaved dogs are very welcome to join you, this area is heaven for dogs with an abundance of walks as well as many dog friendly pubs and cafés all on your doorstep and even a dog bakery in Whitby!
