Here at Albany Cottage the whole family can enjoy holidays together to the coast. Set in idyllic farmland just outside Whitby, Albany Cottage is an accessible spacious barn conversion, boasting character and charm as well as beautiful surroundings. Located within the farm grounds with its own enclosed garden outside, with a seating area ideal for dining in the sunshine. Here you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding North Yorkshire Moors National Park, which is a haven for wildlife. With private off-road parking, there is a ramp at the front door to ensure easy access. The doorways are all wide access, with low thresholds, allowing wheelchair users to have easy access throughout the ground floor. You have a generously sized open plan living area, with a wood burning stove ensuring you have a warm welcome. The lounge is designed with your comfort in mind, with the bonus of an electric recliner chair. You have a dining table as well as a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for creating your favourite meals together. On the ground floor you have a twin bedroom complete with a fully profiling bed with integral cot sides as well as a divan type electric bed. There is also a four-way ceiling hoist available if required. This room is complete with a modern en suite wet room. This wet room has a wheelchair accessible shower including grab rails plus a remote controlled shower, raised toilet. and concave wash basin for easy access whilst seated choice of shower chair. The layout has been carefully designed to provide guests with a wide range of mobility their independence as well as the home comforts which ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. There are additional mobility and living aids available on request if required. Upstairs there is a master king size bedroom, as well as an additional twin bedroom. There is a characterful family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Whitby has something for all age groups. There are many independent shops and art galleries as well as the very popular jewellery shops that sell the locally sourced jet the town was famous for. This seafaring town is proud of its heritage, there are tales of Viking invasions, heroic sea rescues as well as seafaring pioneers. Discover more at the museums, including one on a tall ship in the harbour. Today fishermen still sail from Whitby, there are many award winning restaurants where you can sample the freshly caught seafood. The surrounding North York Moors National Park is full of woodland trails as well as the wonderful heritage steam railway that runs through the middle. The steam train leaves Whitby and travels over the moors towards the market town of Pickering, with picturesque villages along the way. There is an array of beaches and seaside towns and villages along the coast to visit, you can even hire all terrain wheelchairs from a locally based organisation for a trip along the golden sand. For an inclusive and enjoyable day out there is a wheelchair and trike accessible cycle track to RHB and also the ’Whitby Wetwheels’ which welcomes visitors on a boat trip, with access for wheelchair users, as well as those with reduced mobility.
