Cluain sits on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, overlooking an islet strewn bay with views to the beautiful islands of Scarba and Jura on the lovely Hebridean Island of Luing, where you’ll receive the friendliest of welcomes. Situated close to the shore, it’s a short walk from the garden to a slate beach with an amazing panorama of the wild west coast waters of the Firth of Lorne, where you can see the Garvellach islands, Isle of Mull, plentiful wildlife and passing boats. Cluain is an elegant Victorian era two-storey house renovated into upper and lower flats in a style reflecting the relaxed and unhurried nature of island living. The cosy open plan living/dining area is warmed by a welcoming wood burner where you can enjoy stunning views over the sea. Outside, in the lawned front garden, you can sit and enjoy the views and listen to the haunting sounds of the sea birds swooping over the water. Situated on the edge of the conservation village of Cullipool, overlooking the Atlantic waters of the Firth of Lorne. Cullipool is a quiet traditional island village with pretty white-washed cottages and within easy walking distance, has a well-stocked convenience store with post office, island bakery, the Atlantic Island Centre with café and museum, a kids’ play park, local boat trips and a village hall with regular events. The village of Toberonochy is a 4-mile drive, which takes you past the local school, church and historic graveyard. Bikes can be hired on the island to explore at your leisure. The island of Luing is just 6 miles long by 1½ miles wide and can easily be explored on foot, bike or car. Oban, the main town, with its varied range of eating places and plentiful shops is only a 40-minute drive. The short, regular ferry crossing allows you to enjoy an island holiday experience with access to all that the local area offers for day trips within a reasonable driving distance. Beach 500 yards.
