With nearly two thousand miles of footpaths, you can cycle, ride or walk to your heart’s content. But you don’t need to stay on land - take to the lakes on a paddle board, rowing boat or try out water skiing or kayaking. Spend a relaxing day cruising around one of the magnificent lakes on a steamer. Alternatively spend the day in one of the Lakeland towns for fabulous galleries, museums or just great shopping. Conveniently located just 15 minutes from the M6 motorway, halfway between Penrith and Keswick and a mere five minutes from Ullswater. The Whitbarrow Village resort sits beneath the famous Blencathra fell (also known locally as Saddleback) and offers both luxury and serenity – as well as easy access to the delights of The Lake District. This is a charming upside-down two storey country cottage situated in the heart of Whitbarrow village in the northern Lake District. Perfect for a family break, friends retreat or a couples getaway. The ground floor comprises of a master double bedroom with en-suite and direct access to an outside patio area with table and chairs for al fresco dining. The second bedroom has twin beds and the third one has a bunk bed. The main family bathroom with bath and over bath shower is also on this floor. The first floor comprises of a large open plan area including a spacious and comfortable lounge with 50" smart TV and blue tooth speaker. Offset from the main sitting area is a cosy nook ideal for reading. A door from the lounge gives direct access to a first floor balcony complete with table and chairs, ideal for enjoying a quiet drink in the evening and overlooking the immaculately maintained Whitbarrow grounds. A well-equipped kitchen includes dining area for six, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher washer and Nespresso Virtuo coffee machine. On the doorstep you will find stunning mountains such as Helvellyn, Skiddaw and Blencathra. Also, lakes including Ullswater, Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite are all within a short drive. The village of Greystoke is only two miles away, with its villlage pub providing an excellent place to eat, drink and relax. Worthy of note, one mile from the cottage is a farm shop which prides itself in offering high quality, locally sourced produce in its shop and cafe. Nearby Keswick (10-minute drive) is a vibrant town with a great outdoor market and plenty of places to eat and drink. Its bustling centre has an abundance of quality restaurants, pubs serving local cask ales, independent shops and the obligatory outdoor and fashion brands. There is a host of delis, bakeries, coffee shops and local craft stalls. Famous for its narrow streets and courtyards, this traditional market town is one not to be missed. There is free access for guests to all of the shared village facilities and amenities. These include a bar and restaurant, indoor heated pool, gym, jacuzzi, outdoor children’s play area, crazy golf, giant chess board, indoor heated splash pool, putting green, duck pond, games room, laundry room, sauna, steam room and frisbee course.
