Once part of the set for the beloved television series, 'Last of The Summer Wine', a filming camera was mounted on top of the cottage to film Aunty Wainwrights shop, which is opposite.

Wainwrights Retreat provides a marvellous base for a family of four who want to explore the West Yorkshire country, from the Peak District National Park to the Bronte Country. The property enjoys access to on-street parking, where you can leave your vehicle before taking in those marvellous views of the surrounding village and distant moorland. Head inside to be welcomed by a stylish open-plan living space, beautifully-finished to a high standard, where a sofa awaits for you to lounge on as you watch an entertaining show on the Smart TV. After enjoying a moment of relaxation, progress to the kitchen, a well-presented space that hosts a great selection of appliances, including an integrated dishwasher and a washing machine. Once the foodie of the group has cooked up a storm, enjoy an indulgent meal at the dining table with bench seating, so all the family can enjoy the meal together with ease. When day turns to night, climb the stairs to the first floor to find a tastefully furnished double bedroom that enjoys deep purple touches, along with its own Smart TV and access to a nearby bathroom. The town isn't far from the sites of Marsden Moor, a National Trust nature reserve stretching miles of open moorland and craggy peaks, the perfect setting for a two-footed adventure, a golf club and the idyllic Butterley Reservoir, where walks around the waters can be embarked on with a furry friend. The cottage sits a stone's throw away from the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, where avid cyclists can follow the Moonraker’s ride, named after the famous rum smuggler’s tale, toward the village of Slaithwaite, or venture in the opposite direction to Standedge Tunnel, the longest tunnel in Britain, passing deep beneath the Pennines. Why not venture on foot, across the West Nab hiking area, to Meltham, where a stunning Pleasure Garden, an exhilarating archery club, fascinating Tractor Museum and the beautiful waterfall of Folly Dolly can be found.
