Allonby is a welcoming seaside village known for its 5 mile beach stretching around the bay. Situated along the Cumbria Coastal Way, the village makes a wonderful base for breathtaking coastal walks and has a number of friendly pubs and fish and chip shops. Ideal for exploring the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Allonby is to the north of Maryport (5.5 miles), a lively harbour town with attractions including the Maryport Lighthouse, Senhouse Roman Museum and the Lake District Coast Aquarium. Heading inland, the bustling Georgian town of Cockermouth (10 miles) is the birthplace of William Wordsworth, and is a picturesque entry point to the northern reaches of the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake within easy reach (16 miles).
