This delightful terraced stone barn conversion is located in the small village of Sawdon, 1.9 miles from another village called Brompton-by-Sawdon, between Scarborough and Pickering. Set out mostly over the ground floor, the accommodation at this cottage is spacious and well presented with all the ingredients for a perfect romantic retreat. The main living area oozes character, featuring a high beamed ceiling, stone flagged floor and a warming woodburning stove, ideal for snuggling up in front of on a cold winter’s night. A wooden open tread staircase leads to a mezzanine sitting area with comfortable sofa, a lovely spot to relax with a good book, whilst the designated chef for the evening prepares a delicious meal in the well-equipped kitchen. The bedroom boasts a beautiful four poster king-size double bed with feature beamed ceiling, creating a spacious feel, and from here a step down leads to the lovely modern bathroom. Sawdon has a pub, The Anvil, and nearby Brompton-in Sawdon is home to quaint tea rooms and small shops selling local produce. The surrounding open countryside is a walkers paradise, with a good network of public footpaths and trails, whilst nearby the moors offer spectacular views and idyllic touring opportunities. A twenty minute drive brings you into the heart of popular Scarborough, a wonderful traditional seaside town, with fine beaches, colourful ornamental gardens and wide array of restaurants and pubs, and culture lovers will savour a special treat to the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round. There are many historic market towns in the vicinity of this cottage, including Pickering, with its steam railway and castle, as well as Malton and Helmsley. Ivy cottage offers a romantic retreat where you can get away from it all and discover this beautiful area and all that it has to offer.

The small village of Sawdon is situated on the edge of the stunning North York Moors National Park, close to both Scarborough and Pickering. Sawdon has a pub called The Anvil (open Wednesday to Sunday), which is well known in the area for its excellent meals, and walks can be enjoyed from the village. Close by is Brompton-by-Sawdon, which is a delightful country village with stone-built cottages and is ideally placed for discovering the countryside, with the surrounding area being somewhat of a walker’s heaven. A little further afield the historic market town of Malton whilst the famous family beaches and seaside attractions of Scarborough are within easy reach.
